Beeswax (FreeWheel Buyer Cloud) Destination
Configure the Beeswax (FreeWheel Buyer Cloud) destination in Ours Privacy to send server-side conversions for click-through and view-through attribution.
Beeswax (FreeWheel Buyer Cloud) Destination
Send conversion events to Beeswax (FreeWheel Buyer Cloud) so Buyer Cloud can credit each conversion back to the campaign and line item that drove it. Ours Privacy carries the original Buyer Cloud auction ID from ad click through to conversion, even when it happens days later in a different session.
Before you start
You'll need:
- A Buyer Cloud account with permission to create events and read account settings.
- Your Buzz Key from Buyer Cloud → Account Settings.
- A Buyer Cloud Event ID (Tag ID) for each conversion type you want to track.
- The ability to update your Beeswax creative click URLs to include the Buyer Cloud auction macro.
How to configure
1. Create the conversion event in Buyer Cloud
For each conversion type you want to track (for example, one for purchase, one for signup):
- In Buyer Cloud, open the Create Event screen.
- Set Tag Type to Generic URL for mobile app install Postback — use this exact option even for web conversions. It's how Buyer Cloud routes server-side conversions.
- Save the event and copy the resulting Event ID (Tag ID).
2. Add the auction ID to your creative click URLs
Update every Buyer Cloud creative's click URL to forward the auction ID into your landing page using the beeswax_auction_id parameter:
https://yourbrand.com/landing?beeswax_auction_id={{AUCTION_ID}}The Ours Privacy Web SDK picks up beeswax_auction_id automatically on landing and keeps it associated with the visitor across future sessions and conversions. No landing-page code changes are required.
If your ads team has standardized on a different parameter name, you can either rename it to beeswax_auction_id on the creative side, or point the destination at the matching property in step 4.
3. Add the destination in Ours Privacy
- Open Destinations in your Ours Privacy account.
- Add Beeswax (FreeWheel Buyer Cloud) Postback.
- Paste your Buzz Key.
4. Map your conversion events
For each event you want to forward to Beeswax:
- Set Event ID (Tag ID) to the value you copied from Buyer Cloud in step 1.
- Confirm the Auction ID is wired to the property that holds the captured Buyer Cloud auction ID (the default reads the value the Web SDK captures from the landing-page URL).
- Optionally set a Conversion Value for revenue tracking.
- For mobile app conversions where no auction ID is available, map iOS Device ID or Android Device ID as a fallback.
A conversion is only sent to Beeswax when an auction ID or a device ID is available — without one, Buyer Cloud has nothing to attribute against.
EMEA and GDPR
In the EU, Buyer Cloud requires device IDs to be SHA-1 hashed before they're sent. If you're tracking conversions in the EU, hash device IDs before they reach Ours Privacy.
Troubleshooting
- Most conversions are skipped for a missing auction ID: Confirm your creative click URLs include
?beeswax_auction_id={{AUCTION_ID}}so visitors land on your site with the auction ID set. Once the Web SDK captures it, the value is automatically carried on later events for that visitor. - Buyer Cloud shows zero conversions even though events are being sent: Verify that the Event ID (Tag ID) on each mapping matches the corresponding event in Buyer Cloud, and that auction ID values look like real Buyer Cloud auction IDs (not blank, not a session ID).
- Authentication errors: Your Buzz Key is incorrect or has been rotated. Copy a fresh value from Buyer Cloud → Account Settings, paying attention to case.
- One conversion type appears under multiple Buyer Cloud events: You're reusing one Event ID across multiple Ours Privacy event mappings. Create a separate event in Buyer Cloud (with its own Tag ID) for each conversion type.
