Microsoft Advertising CAPI

Send server-side conversion and page-load events to Microsoft Advertising for measurement, attribution, and audience building.

BetaThis is in beta. The basics are stable, and more capabilities are on the way.
Open Destinations in app

Use this destination to send server-side conversion and page-load events to Microsoft Advertising. Configure the same UET tag for browser and server events when you want Microsoft Advertising to deduplicate the same conversion.

Before you start

  • A Microsoft Advertising account with access to Universal Event Tracking (UET).
  • A UET tag associated with the conversion goals you want to measure.
  • A CAPI token generated for that UET tag.

Setup

  1. Sign in to Microsoft Advertising and open Tools → Conversion goals → UET tags.
  2. Select the UET tag used by your conversion goals and copy its Tag ID.
  3. Generate or copy the CAPI token for that UET tag from the Microsoft Advertising conversion setup.
  4. In Ours Privacy, add the Microsoft Advertising CAPI destination and enter the UET Tag ID and CAPI Token.
  5. Configure your event mappings. For conversion events, map an event name and event ID. For page-load events, map an event URL.
  6. Include at least one identity signal. Microsoft recommends its click ID whenever it is available, together with anonymous ID, email, phone, IP address, or user agent as permitted.

Deduplication

When the same conversion is sent through both UET and this destination, map the same Event ID and compatible Event Name on both paths. This lets Microsoft Advertising recognize the two reports as one conversion.

Event timing

Microsoft Advertising accepts CAPI events that occurred in the previous seven days. Send conversions promptly so they can be matched and attributed within your campaign reporting window.
