Step-by-step guide to setting up Ours Privacy Channel Performance: select conversion events, add ad spend data, and understand report generation.
Set up Channel Performance
Complete these steps once to get Channels running.
Step 1 — Select conversion events
Conversion events tell Channels what to measure. Until at least one is configured, the Performance tab shows a setup prompt instead of data.
- Go to Attribution → Channels → Conversion Events tab.
- Browse the event list. The list pulls from 60 days of activity on your website.
- Check every event that represents a meaningful conversion for your organization, for example,
form_submit,appointment_booked, orcontact_request. - Click Save.
Note: Channels excludes these high-volume events by default:
click(clicks),page_view(page views),scroll(scroll events),user_engagement(engagement events). They are engagement signals, not conversions.
Note: At least one event must remain selected. You cannot save an empty selection.
Tip: After your first save, Channels backfills reports from your earliest tracked event. This can take a few minutes — see Step 3.
Step 2 — Add ad spend data (optional during setup; required for paid metrics)
Without ad spend data, Channels still shows visits, conversions, and revenue by channel, including organic and direct. You need spend data to see ROAS, cost per conversion, and media spend totals for paid channels.
You can add spend data at any time.
Step 3 — Wait for reports to generate
Save your first conversion events and the Performance tab shows a "Reports generating" card. Channels is building your historical reports in the background.
- Channels builds reports by joining your conversion event data with your imported ad spend.
- Channels backfills data from your account's earliest tracked event.
- Once complete, the card disappears and the Performance tab shows full data.
Note: Re-uploading ad spend data or changing your conversion events re-triggers report generation for the affected dates.
