Channel Performance Overview

What is Channel Performance?

Channels shows you which marketing sources are driving conversions on your website: paid search, paid social, and organic. It also shows what each one costs per conversion.

Organic and direct traffic channels appear based on your website event data. No upload or configuration needed. Paid channels (Google Ads, Meta Ads) gain cost and ROAS data after you upload spend data.

Key concepts

Conversion event A tracked action on your website that counts as a meaningful outcome, for example, a form submission or an appointment booking. You choose which events count as conversions.

Media spend Advertising cost data imported from your ad platforms (Google Ads, Meta Ads). Uploading spend data unlocks paid-channel metrics like ROAS and cost per conversion.

Channel A source of traffic grouped by platform and type. Examples: Google Ads / Paid Search, Meta Ads / Paid Social, Organic / Direct.

Attribution model The rule that decides which channel gets credit when a visitor touches more than one channel before converting, for example, clicking a Google Ad one day, then returning via organic search the next. Channels supports Last Touch, First Touch, and Linear models.

Quality score A score from 0 to 100 that ranks how efficiently a channel converts visitors compared to your other channels. A relative ranking within your account.

How it works

  1. Configure conversion events — tell Channels which website actions count as conversions.
  2. Add ad spend data — upload CSV exports from Google Ads or Meta Ads to bring cost data in.
  3. View reports — Channels combines your event data with your ad spend to calculate visits, conversions, revenue, ROAS, and cost per conversion by channel, campaign, ad set, and ad.

Channels pre-calculates reports in the background and updates them whenever you upload new spend data or change your conversion events.

Note: The Performance tab shows up to 60 days of data at a time.

Prerequisites

  • Channels must be enabled for your account. Contact Ours support if you do not see it under Attribution.
  • You need admin access or media-spend upload permission to configure conversion events and upload spend data.
